Real cases. Real thinking. Real medicine. A podcast exploring clinical puzzles…
A podcast in association with the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh.

A New Way to Learn Medicine

Whether you’re a healthcare professional or a curious student, we provide high-quality audio episodes paired with deep-dive transcripts and interactive tools to sharpen your clinical reasoning.

Home of Medicine is a podcast about medical diagnosis and clinical reasoning. In each episode, hosts Amie and Ben – both medical consultants in Acute and general Internal Medicine in the UK – take turns to present an interesting or challenging case. The other host works their way through the case, thinking out loud and describing their diagnostic reasoning, and tries to reach the diagnosis. Listen along, and see how two senior doctors approach diagnostic puzzles, and talk about how we think through clinical cases in our everyday working lives.

Trusted by the Medical Community

We pride ourselves on creating a “home base” for honest medical education. See what our listeners have to say about our journey into the heart of clinical puzzles and the art of the post-take.

Sarah J. Final Year Medical Student

As a medical student, I often feel lost in the distance between textbooks and the actual ward round. The Home of Medicine bridges that gap perfectly. Hearing Amie and Ben deconstruct complex clinical puzzles in such an accessible way has completely changed how I approach my rotations. It’s the education I didn't know I was missing.

Dr. James R. Foundation Year Doctor

Finally, a medical podcast that talks about the 'human' side of being a doctor. The episodes on cognitive bias and 'the art of the post-take' are incredibly relatable. Amie and Ben’s honesty about medical uncertainty and the mistakes we all learn from makes me feel much more confident in my own clinical journey. A must-listen for anyone on the acute take.

Dr. Elena K. Consultant Physician

The chemistry between Amie and Ben is fantastic, but it’s the quality of the clinical reasoning that keeps me coming back. As a fellow consultant, I appreciate the nuance they bring to every case. It’s rare to find a resource that balances clinical excellence with such genuine storytelling. It’s a brilliant association with the RCP Edinburgh.

Mark T. Advanced Clinical Practitioner

I’ve been a listener since day one, and what I love most is the focus on 'Discovery.' The Home of Medicine isn't just a show; it’s a toolkit. I’m already using their clinical pearls in my daily practice, and I’m counting down the days until the card game launches. Strategic, fun, and highly educational!
